OVER THE YEARS
For over half a century, the Residence La Lorraine knows only one owner, Mr. Henri Bernois then, later, his son Marcel.
-
The 1st floor of Résidence La Lorraine constitutes their apartment.
-
The business funds on the ground floor and the other apartments are rented.
Over the years, the Residence has seen changes…
… Linked to improved comfort:

-
"Gas on all floors" appeared, as well as electricity, making unnecessary the "chore of wood" or coal for those who use their fireplace with a stove: particularly appreciated by the inhabitants of the highest floors - or by their clerk -, the development of heating gas gave fireplaces a more aesthetic than functional character
The Telephone appeared punctually before the war even if its generalization did not take place until the 1950s.
-
Lead pipes, widely used at the beginning of the century, were gradually replaced by copper during the years 70-80

-
In addition to first Radio Receivers (Wireless Sound Transmission called "TSF") in early 20s, the “Rateaux Antennas”, making it possible to catch the State-Monopol-Television ("ORTF"), popped up on the roof in the 1950s
-
Closer to us, ADSL… Connected Gas- and Electricity- Meter… Fiber in 2020…!

… Or changing lifestyles:
-
The "maids rooms" of the last centuries allowed employees to be housed close to their employers residing on the lower floors. With the gradual disappearance of home employees, the maids room, often uncomfortable and not rfilling any more the increasingly severe housing standards, are gradually disappearing.

-
Residence La Lorraine is no exception to this development: in 1983 the last floor was reorganized. The 4 maids rooms, the 3 attics and the shared WC are transformed into two independent apartments… each with their own bathroom! The apartments on the upper levels then enjoy a panoramic view of the whole of western Paris: Maisons Laffitte, its Castle and its Park, the forest of Saint Germain, but also in the distance, the towers of La Défense and… The Eiffel Tower!

-
Conversely, the 2 shops on the ground floor, as shown in the original plan are now 4 independent apartments.

From its construction in 1929 until 1983, the Résidence La Lorraine was the exclusive property of the Bernois family.

In 1983, the apartments were offered for sale by Marcel Bernois : most of the buyers were the people already leaving in the Résidence, who had the opportunity to buy the flat they were living in. Some of them are still, almost 40 years later, owner and resident in Residence La Lorraine !
A Co-ownership regulation was then drawn up under lawyer supervision and published on 22/3/1983.
The first meeting of the newly created Co-owners Syndicate will be held in 1984.
